I am unable to get a good rip of the matrix. I have tried dvd decrypter and DVD Shrink, and both produce the same results. They rip the movie, but at 3 mins into the movie the video and sound are jumpy. The jumpyness lasts for 10 to 15 seconds. Then the rest of the movie is fine. I have tried ripping it on multiple workstations, with different OSs (XP w/ sp1 and Win2K pro sp3), different DVD drives (one DVD burner and the other is a DVD reader only). All combinations produce the same results. Any ideas? The jumpy video and audio are at the same point in the movie each time, during trinity's fight scene with the cops. I can watch the original DVD in both my standalone player and PowerDVD and in both cases the original DVD is fine. Out of ideas. Need help.![]()

After using DVD Decrypter, play the VOB files in PowerDVD. Do they jump at that spot? If so it's the decryption phase. If not, it's the transcoding phase.
If it's the Decryption that's a problem, may I suggest that you download a trial of AnyDVD, install it, and copy/paste the files to your hard disk and see if THOSE files work?

@Mobzilla,
you wanna rip the matrix to (S)VCD or DVD-R/+R???
to (S)VCD, make sure you ENABLE MULTI-ANGLE PROCESSING in DVDdecryptor
---------------------
also, make sure the actual DVD is clean...i.e. no dirt, scratches, dust, etc... -
Hi Poopyhead,
Sorry I didn't post whether I was ripping to dvdr or svcd. I figured that this was a dvd to dvdr forum. I am ripping to dvdr.
Hi Gurn,
Yes, I can view the vob in PowerDVD and I see the same jumpiness. So the problem is in the decryption. That is what I can't figure out. I have used DVD Decrtypter and DVD Shrink quite a few times on other discs with no problems. Only on this disk. But the original disk plays fine in my DVD player. The only problem is when I try to rip it.
I will download AnyDVD and give that a shot. Thanks. -
Mobzilla,
is the problem you're encountering when Trinity jumps in the air, when fighting the cops in the dark room by-any-chance?
That's what poopyhead is talking about I think - as it's a problem with multi-angle, which you can remove at the rip stage.
I'm not sure how that works with backup to DVDr however, but it's certainly something you have to do if you're going to (S)VCD.
If that is the part of the film where you're having the problem though, it would narrow it down to multi-angle I would have thought.
cheers,
mcdruid. -
Yes, it is when Trinity jumps in the air and is fighting the cops. I bet you are right and that is why is doesn't rip correctly at that point. Hmm. Multi-angle. How do I get around that? Is there any way of maintaining the multi-angle on the dvdr? Assuming I can get a good rip, of course.

sorry - don't have a DVD burner yet, so I've no idea how you'd go about keeping the multi-angle in your DVD backup.
Anyone else help? -
Thanks for the great advice, now I got a good rip. But I have a new problem. I can view the vob files in Power DVD just fine with the correct sound, but when I burn to DVDr it has an interview with Trinity sound track for the entire movie. So I assume that the IFO files are pointing to the wrong sound track. How do I fix this?

I backed up my copy with no problems. I used SmartRipper (Full backup mode) and DVD2One
