I just got a DVD burner...and I downloaded DVD XCopy. Is this the best way to burn commercial DVDs? If so, when I clicked "copy now" I got the following "error reading source disk."
What is the problem? I'm a complete newbie at burning DVDs

You must've downloaded DVDXCopy Express which is available for 14 days/3 burns trial. If not, then ... we don't discuss warez and such.
I'd say, download DVDShrink v.2.3 (stable) that is freeware and use it for ripping, and Nero or Roxio, whatever came with the burner or DVD Decryptor (freeware) to burn.

What Dubber said is correct... however... if you wanted to spend a some money get CloneDVD and AnyDVD. CloneDVD is just about the easiest app to use... and it'll burn'em as well. Try out the demo. I've used both CloneDVD and DVDShrink... both are great apps. It just depends on how much you want to spend, how much control you want, and how much ease of use you want. Check out the guides as well. They are an excellent source of information.
