I've used my E30 to record several DVDs with the source being a DirecTV/Tivo unit (Hughes HDVR2). Today, I accidentally started recording a DVD and hit the "Stop" button repeatedly rapidly. Now, I can't record anything. It gives me "This a non-recordable disc" (or something like that) error message whenever I try to record. I've also tried other blank as well as partially recorded DVDs to no avail. The E30 goes into some sort of "shutdown" mode where I have great difficulty in trying to open the disc door or shut the unit off and try to power it up again. I've had to unplug it for about a minute and after pressing the "Open" button, the LED readout will show "Close" and it goes into the shutdown mode again. Very frustrating.

    Any ideas?

Never mid. I took it apart to look for a reset switch. Didn't find one, but I guess something must've happened because it works OK now.

FYI, I noticed a 3V battery soldered onto the PCB which I believe retains the date and time in memory - I wonder if it also retains a front panel disabling feature in memory as well. Dunno. Works OK though.

  3. Unplugging it does the trick if you unplug it long enough, which is probably what happened. This trick works for any appliance.
