  1. I got the Dazzle and I use the standard VCD template. I know I can get the quality better of I up the bitrate, move it to movie quality or whatever, but it takes up way too much room, I need to keep it at the 201 kbits. But when I make a VCD it always turns out pretty blocky and the sound usually goes funny about 5 minutes into it.
    Any suggestions??

  2. for a compliant vcd stream, you need to have the bitrate at 1150kbits/s. a vcd (352x240 ntsc or 352x288 pal) is inherently going to look "blocky" in complex scenes, especially on a computer monitor. capturing at a higher bitrate will, unfortunately, violate vcd standards, as will increasing capturing resolutions.

as for the problem with sound synchronization (i'm assuming that's what you mean when you say "goes funny") can be solved by demultiplexing the video and audio streams, and then re-multiplexing them using a vcd template (with an audio delay/advance if needed). if your sound gets progressively out of sync. then there are some suggestions (either in the links or in the forums) available that you can read.
