  1. I have a DVD of a rather old film with the original mono soundtrack, an upmixed DD2.0 and DD5.1 If I stripped out the DD2.0 (I'd like to keep the mono soundtrack for historical reasons) I could burn the DVD to a DVDR without transcoding. But there's a problem: The main movie as well as two trailers are located in VTS_01. If I strip out DD2.0 - using ifoEdit or IC7 - the trailers end up with no sound at all because they have only DD2.0. So the question is: If you strip an audiostream - can you only do that for the complete content of a VTS? Isn't it possible to strip out the DD2.0 of the main movie but keep the DD2.0 of the trailers? (movie and trailers are located in the same VTS)

Sure. DVD Shrink or CloneDVD will do this for you handily, and if it all fits after that, they won't transcode either.

  3. Well, DVD Shrink won't work:

I already used IFo Edit to strip out the FBi warning and other stuff. I burned the DVD and everything worked except for the trailers that had no sound because of the problem I described in my original post. I tried to use DVDShrink to remove the DD2.0 just for the main movie but when I try to open the already altered video files in DVDShrink I get the error "read out of range". Strangely enough I get a preview of everything and can select not to have DD 2.0 on the main film. But when I try to backup the files then DVDShrink gives me the same "read out of range" error.

  4. DVDshrink needs unaltered video files....(except with the CSS removed)...

so, don't alter the files in anyway before loading into DVDshrink...

    --------

once in DVDshrink, it should separate the main movie and extras (i.e trailer) into separate categories so you can remove audio streams from the main movie without also removing them from the trailer.

OK - so what is the way to strip the DD2.0 only for the main movie using IFo Edit? I don't want top start all over again.

    Why not start over again?

    1. Put in original disc.

    2. Fire up DVD Shrink.

    3. Deselect what you don't want (the track for the original movie).

    4. Let it run.

I'm failing to see what you're missing here...

do NOT use IfoEdit in this case...DO start all over again and USE DVDshrink instead...
