I'm transferring old VHS tapes into DVD.Some of these tapes are "old" and have some distortion to them(flipping, bending). Now I understand the quality of the dvd is not going to exceed the quality of the video but how could the image look better when it is relayed thru the TV as compared to my "dazzle"capture device and onto my computer?

If you're getting distortion from your original VHS, a TBC might be able to clean up some of that bending and what not. Do a forum search on TBC(time base corrector) and you'll get some sugestions of which ones might work for you.

there are filters that you could try to "attempt" to improve the picture OR use a TBC.
My recommendation would be to either purchase a hardware dvd recorder (like the e-20) Or use a DV camcorder and use its pass through feature.
