My computer isn't seeing DV cam's anymore I use to have a Cannon GX-1, and it worked fine, I haven't hooked up a digital cam. up to my computer for a while 2 months. I just bought a JVC GY-DV5000, and I hook it up firewire, and it askes me for drivers, I have never seen that before. I also have a little cheap Samsung over here, and it does the same thing.
All I know is that I have done was do run all my updates on Windows XP Pro. I would really thank someone if they could help me.

    VMiyoshi,

If I would have to make a SWAG...(scientific wild a** guess) I would say it's very possible that the updates you made to XP Pro is your problem. I read thru the newsgroups everyday and I have seen more than a few users that state they lost a LOT of system devices and other things quit working after they installed the XP Service Pack and updates. Everything worked great and correctly BEFORE they did the update but things changed afterward. Some tried even uninstalling the service packs and updates to restore everything back to normal. It was a 50/50 crap shoot. Half got their systems back and the other half had to wipe and reload XP.

I would try uninstalling the updates and such thru the Add/Remove in the Control Panel and hope that brings your DV input back. If that doesn't work then I hate to say but you might have to do a dump and reload.

I am using the original XP Pro install without any updates and my system is great. Until I hear a more positive outlook about any further updates I will pass on the updates for now..

    Best of luck..
    Rick

Also, I'd like to add. Get Norton Ghost and learn how to use it. It saved me countless times. There is nothing better than knowing no mater how bad you messed up your O.S., you can have it back to normal in 10 min.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
