DVD .ISO image file from WinXP Compatible w/Toast Titanium?

The reason being is that I don't have a burner for my PC, but I do have a External HD that works on both Platforms. I'll probably give it a go tomorrow, but I hate reattaching the HD for no good reason.

never tried it myself, but i imagine it would work.

you may need to change the .ISO to something like .TOAST or .DMG or .BIN etc.

Try renaming it first to .DMG (then see if disk copy can moun it)
if so you are good to go.

If not, try other extensions until you find one that does mount.

Yup you should be just fine
.iso should work just fine just select disk image and drag it to the window

Agreed... Do NOT change the extension.

Select the Disc Image Function in Toast and drag it to the window. Alternatively, you can use Apple Disc Burner, without limitation.

Never needed to burn a PC iso. why cant you change the extension?? Just curious, not that ill EVER bring a pc iso to my mac.

Well Galactica I have never tried changing the extension it just works without changing. Dont know if it will do any harm but you just dont have to as far as I know.

Some people download game or other images from ftp or irc to backup their original copies which are most of the time pc images and they work just fine as a .bin or .iso using the disk image option in toast.

Strange! Download PC games to back up your Mac games!!!!!!!!

I know people do this, but thats not a discussable topic on this forum, especially since
1. If you have the game you dont need to download the backup, you just back it up yourself
2. your downloading PC games for a mac, thats just a no no!

Remeber those PS2 dvd-rips we were talkin about.
For people that dont have a dvd burner and they want to backup some of there dvd games onto a cd, they can find them, download them, and back them up without using a pc and learning programing and hacking, or using silly rip kits to backup the game themselves (wont go into this any further though )

Same goes for x-box

90% of these images are pc format .bins, .isos, and .gi's

Toast and other Disc burning apps do not always attempt to auto detect the sector size and volume type based on its extension.

If you renamed it with a .dmg, my guess is that Toast and other apps detect it as a disc image having a sector size of 1024 as this is the Mac norm, instead of the PC norm of 1000. This is because the .dmg format is a propriatary one.

Any disc image that was created on a PC and has an ISO extension should be left as such.

We had horrible nightmares of making tons of coasters because we re-named a disc image's extension and then couldnt remember the original one, which was a .gi file, BTW.

Images made on a PC are not a bad thing at all. In case most of you forgot the majority of the world uses PCs, and it is good that we can use their disc image format without limitation or alteration.

Hey zerosix you probably already know about this one but just in case you didnt Gumby changes a .gi to iso even if it is segmented (it does lots of other good stuff for vcd and mpeg files too, like a swiss army knife for the mac)

yeah we've been using Gumby for some time now. What I was talking about took place about a year ago, before we had Gumby. Now i don't leave home without it.
