The last few days I have just been doing some regular stuff on the PC, encoding, digital pics etc, then I get this bad error message that randomly pops up on my screen and shuts down the PC.

Here is the text of the message:

    "SYSTEM SHUTDOWN X

This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

    Time before shutdown: 00:00:60
Message: Windows must restart now because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly."

I have never seen anything like this before, any hints on how to fix this one or where to even look?

    thx.

Thx. BJ_M, I'll check it out and see if the patch helps.

  4. You might want to look into McAfee Personal Firewall or Norton Firewall to prevent attacks like the ones you are getting.
