OK, i come in from work at about 4.15am (a little delayed, but i drove like fury just for the hell of it on empty roads.. yknow.. just to see).
Get a bedtime sandwich. For once, want to see some news, so plonk down in front of TV with 24 hour news channel (BBC).
It's got this thing, ClickOnline on, some kind of tech and internet show, in place of the bloody news. OK, I think, may as well leave it on while chowing.
What comes up almost straight away, a letters and Q/A segment, and someone asks about VCDs... a halfway accurate and newbie-friendly (but still cringeworthy) explanation is given. The thing which rescued it though, is that they chose to screenshot this site's front page and index page, and give the link for interested parties to follow.
I assume this show actually gets repeated at some time when more than three people in the whole country are going to get to watch it, so has there been any appreciable UK pageviewer spike in the last 48 hours (or will there be one in the next 48?)... should a message go up on the frontpage welcoming them, like I've seen happen on many a website when the Beeb has linked it, either online or on-air?
Hmmm.
sorry to be all serious for once

usually, the message that I see on the front pages like that is "sorry, come back when you haven't crashed the server".
if you are familiar with the tech site Slashdot.org, they will link to some guy's personal page talking about some neat thing he's doing, and it will go from 1 hit / month to 15,000 hits in one day, and kill his hosting... he's been slashdotted.- housepig

andall that high speedery drained a little too much gas out of my tank, so a trip to a different workplace today planned to have a last-gasp gas stop after it turned into 9/10ths of a trip and a walk to the filling station
