    Hello,

Just used TMPGEnc to encode an .avi file to a MPEG-2 file for buring on to a DVD-R

When i started the encode i selected the .avi file, however it did not select an audio file (usally does that by itself)

When i run GSpot on the .avi file it tells me this about the audio,

    "0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3"

So thats telling me the audio is MP3, right ?

Now that i have the MPEG-2 file i need the audio file aswell so i can auther it to a DVD.

How do i extrate the MP3 audio so i can auther it to a DVD with the MPEG-2 file i encoded ?

    Thanks

  2. Open the file in VirtualDub MP3, click Audio>Full Processing. File>Save WAV. Then open the WAV file in ffmpeggui, select either AC3 or MP2, choose your bitrate, select sampling rate of 48k, specify where to save it and the name, click convert. Almost as quick as it takes me to type this.

    Good luck.

I don't believe TMPEG will process mp3 audio,so it's unlikely your mpg file has any audio in it. TMPEG's mpeg tools option will demultiplex an mpg or vob file into it's elementary streams. Current versions of TMPEG have an option to encode your file into separate streams making demultiplexing unecessary.

  4. Yeah no good reason to let TMPGEnc handle the audio, I never do. Too easy to do it separately, and anyway TMPGEnc can get cranky over audio input sometimes, like with VBR audio. Set up an m2v template in the encoder, get your ac3 or mp2 with ffmpeggui or whatever, and author with elementary streams.

  6. Try VirtualDub MP3 or MPEG2. Also, what does GSpot say about bitrate and compatible codecs? What does Vdub tell you under File>File Information?

I open the .avi file in VirtualDub and get this error message,

I just click OK to the error.

Click on AUDIO tab and selected Full Processing, then clicked FILE and sav .wav and get this error,

This is the info from GSpot,

Can you make sense of all that

Try installing the Radium MP3 Codec, then repeat the procedure in Vdub to decompress to wav. If that doesn't work, open the movie with Goldwave and save as wav.

Ok used that Goldwave program to save the audi from the avi to a .wav file

Now the mpeg file i encode from the .avi file is 4.08Gb and the .wav file is 1.16Gb

So its to big to burn to a 4.7Gb DVD

Any ideas how to correct this

    Cheers

Convert the wav to compressed mpa/mp2(mpeg1 layer2) or ac3. Check under our tools section->audio encoders.

    or reread fritzi93 first post.
