Hi,
I am completely new to this,so please can anyone help.I am trying to convert my old videos to dvd's,I am using AverDVD capture card connecting by s-video cable,all seems ok but I am only getting video in black and white(no colour).
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong.

My first thought is that you are capturing in a different region type than the source. Example, the VHS is NTSC, but the capture software is setup to capture PAL or vice versa.

Try using the RCA jacks for video and audio instead of the s-video cable.

The video source can also be a bad S-Video cable, a bad S-Video port on the VCR, or Capture card, and the other somple solution can be your recording software is recording from Composite video instead of S-Video (Compasite Video does not need S-Video and S-Video does not need Composite Video) YOu can use one or the other. Check to see if you also have the Comosite video plugged in on both side.
