  1. I have alot of experience copying DVD to DVD. However, I am new to DivX/XviD to DVD. I honestly do not know where to begin.

I just want to know how to convert from to DVD for now. I can worry about creating menus and chapters later

If it helps, then the software I have is as follows:

    Canopus ProCoder
    Sonic MyDVD
    Pinnacle Studio 8

Dont know if that is the most efficient software needed but if not, any reccomendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

well look i can show you how to make 2 things a cvd and a dvd. i would go with cvd, cause its fully dvd compatible,or atleast almost but yea its a standard reselution. and you can make up to 5 movies on a dvd-r. loook at my guide, the second one that says how to make a cvd out of a 700 mb movie. when you look at the guide get back to me here is the link. https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/169149.php

  3. Ok, I looked at your guide, I have a few questions:

    1. Do I select the source (DivX/XviD) from my Hard drive?
    2. Will the CVD output as an mpg?
    3. What do I do then?
    4. Ive checked the software I have, MyDVD will only accept a video camera/capture card as a video source. What DVD Authoring software do you reccomend for accepting video source from the hard drive?

Im sorry if I seem dumb but I am new to CVD's. the only experience I have is converting to VCD or copying DVD to DVD.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks again.

sure its ok, just download TMPGEnc from the tools section. and yes it will be an mpeg and you just burn it as a non standard svcd usign nero or you can also use vcd easy.

  5. Here is what I do to convert divx/xvid videos to DVD (or rather CVD). I downloaded a copy of DVD2SVCD and use the AVI option (changing the other items to make it CVD complaint -except leave audio at 48mhz). If you use CCE, in about 6-8 hours (on a 1.2 gig computer) you will have an mpg filde. From there use and application like Movie Factory 2 to import the video and burn to DVD-R.

One of the things that you must make sure you do is make sure the CVD is DVD compliant. In DVD2SVCD (at least using CCE) on the advanced tab for encoder check the close GOP's option. An alternative would be to change the numbers above it to 4,2,1 respectively and that should also give you the compliance you need (Personally, I do both just to make sure and you will hear arguments both ways).

  6. But your method doesn't work for funny frame resolutions macleod (i think). Just frameserve from VDub to TMPGEnc or CCE.

  7. OK, I am new to trying to convert Divx to DVD as well. I used Vdub to split the audio and video of the Divx file and used TMPEGEnc to convert the file to MPEG-2. I converted only the first minute to test the process and had an audio/video sync problem. Is converting the Divx to CVD easier and does it handle the audio sync problem?

Be more specific dude. How did you frameserve, what TMPGEnc settings?

actually it does. For funny frame rates, you will need to edit the avisynth script to convert it to a "normal" frame rate.

  10. Cecilio,

I have looked at your guide again. I have a few questions:

    1. I have not used TMPEGEnc in a long time and cannot find the MPEG settings. How do I find these? I am currently using version 2.56.39.143

    2. Am I altering an MPEG file? or do I create these settings, then convert from an avi?

    3. What do I convert to? VCD or SVCD, I havent seen a template for CVD so I am uncertain of these.

    4. Do I use Nero to burn the CVD (as a non compliant SVCD), or use a DVD Auhoring package to burn to a DVD-R?

    Thanks again.

    Edited for spelling mistakes

But, for those who are unfamiliar with the AVISynth scripting language, frameserving from VDub works best.

  12. Suffering from information overload

Is CVD the same as VCD (the term I'm familiar with)?

I used the guide to the letter.

My problem is the a/v sync only. What is a good way to adjust it!

  14. no.

    VCD spec = 352x240/288 CBR 1150 mpeg1 44.1mhz audio
CVD spec = 352x480/576 VBR 2500~ mpeg 2 44.1 mhz audio (although a lot of people like myself change it to 48mhz so it can easily be authored to DVD later)

  15. Check the video stream lengths of both your audio and your video. If they're not the same, then something wrong happened during encoding. Otherwise, the computer you are playing back on has poor CPUu or memory or I/O. If the stream lengths are the same and you have a new computer, then I don't know what unless I see it for myself. Try playing back using a different program......although this shouldn't be a reason, it could be.
