  1. I want to convert a WMV TV Ep to an AVI. I've checked the numberous guides here and none of them worked. I've figured its probably a problem on my end. So I still need help.

First of all, when I open the WMV file in AviCodec, it tells me its a Windows Media Video Version 8, and it is unsupported by my system. Funny, since I can play it fine. Anyway, I grabbed the WM8 codecs off the ms site and installed them. Still unsupported. Oh well.

I try loading the WMV into Graphedit. It errors telling me I might not have all the necessary filters installed. "An Operation Failed due to Certification Failure'

If I try loading the file into Stoik Video Converter, It tells me it cannot open the input file.

Both TMPGENC and VD tell me the file is unsupported.

    Help!

    2 choices.

1 rename wmv to .asf and open in tmpgenc.

    2. open in windows moviemaker2 and reencode to wmv. then change name to .asf and open in tmpgenc or earlier version of vdub that supports asf.
