  1. Anyone who has seen this problem. Please respond if you have any ideas? I purchased an NEC 1300a from newegg.com. It's an OEM version. I have it installed in an AMD 2ghz with 512mb or RAM. Nvidia nforce 2 chipset with the stock graphics card(GeForce 4 mx). XP Pro. I've tried Nero 5, EZ CD creator 5, and DVD Decrypter. They see the drive, but either make coasters or DVDs into DVDs that only can be read in the 1300. The exception is DVD Decrypter. It just gives up before it ruins the disc. Maxell DVD+RWs..... They work. I got them off the recommended list. I also got the Maxell 4x DVD+R off of the list. One coaster so far. Only tried 1 too. Before that, I tried 4 Sony DVD +Rs. All coasters. What am I doing wrong besides making coasters? This is my first DVD burner, so I'm new at this. I applied for the RMA, but wanted to see if maybe it's something I'm doing wrong. I keep reading how alot of people have had good luck with the 1300. I've also seen the media problems, so that's why I made sure to try recommended media.

    P.S. I'm getting very frustrated.

  3. Well, I'm trying to burn movie files. I ripped them with DVD Decrypter. The movie in question is a DVD5, so there is no problems with the size. I believe it comes to 3.8gb. Does it really matter since these are just data files once it is burned? As I said, I'm new to the DVD burning thing. The DVD+RW worked beautifully. It played with only one problem. The menu seemed to be blanked out. I just pressed the play button, and it played. Is this a burner problem? NEC America refused to support the drive because it hasn't even been released in the U.S. yet.
