  1. is there any way i can encode a vcd and still keep the dolby digital audio or even surround sound? i rip usind dvddecrypter then dvd2avi and encode using tmpgenc...thanx

    The VCD spec is stereo.

    if your DVD has a 2 channel sound track, then use this for your audio encoding instead of the 5.1 channel one. the 2 channel one will most likely be recorded in Pro-Logic mode (a clever system that "buries" surround sound in only two channels) and this info will be preserved when you make a VCD from it. try and use at least 192 for your audio.
    on playback simply set your surround amp to Dolby Pro-Logic, or Pro-Logic II - Movie.
