  1. I use DVD shrink and find it excellent , what I would like to know is when compressing a movie, am I in fact just just lowering the framerate or the actual quality as would happen if converting to vcd ?

  2. Someone please correct me if I am wrong!

    I believe that DVDShrink transcodes the original video and lowers the bitrate to meet the file size requirements you specify.

    yes..it does lower bitrate. lowering the framerate would be a really bad idea....the video will get jumpy and stuttery.

    however, it's NOT like converting to VCD because it does NOT re-encode the entire video stream.
