  1. Im not sure what forum this should go in, as it borders a few. In a nut shell what i wanted to do, is put vcd content that i have onto a dvd, this way it will give a much higer running time then 2rhs.
My friend is using sonicdvdit PE and everything we tried to "trick" the program to accpet the mpegs has faileed. It does offer a mpeg1 on dvd option, but when tried it says we do not have the right decoder. Can anyone help?
Again i know its not really the right forum, but unsure of where i should be posting this. thanks again

  2. PS: i forgot to mention the reason we are trying to trick it, is we do not want to-encode the file into an mpeg 2, trying for no re-encoding at all.

  3. Well first you got to conflicting issues here..

Sonic DVDit PE is a DVD/miniDVD authoring program (and a crappy one at that)...NOT A VCD authoring program...so this leads me to ask...are trying to make a DVD TITLE on this DVD-R or are you trying make a VCD TITLE on this DVD-R, because those are 2 different things...let me know, and then I can tell you which way to go from there.

  4. Mazinz,

Hi. I had posed the very same question a few weeks back. At heart, I believe that you are looking for a method of authoring vcd compliant mpegs onto dvd-r with menus so that each disc will hold 4-5 movies each. This dvd-r would theoretically play on a standalone player as well. It was suggested to me to utilize MyDVD software. I have since downloaded both that and DVDit. Unfortunately, my initial testing supports your findings that it can not be tricked into doing so. Next, I will try re-encoding it to an mpeg2 stream with a vcd's resolution and bitrate. Maybe that might work. Later.

  5. I hear the newest Nero burns to dvd-r's. I don't have a dvd burner, but maybe you can try making a vcd with nero and just putting it on a dvd.

This is just a guess, but try any of the freeware tools to make a bin/cue of your giant VCD. Then use a bin/cue burn app to burn your bin onto DVD-R as if its CD-R(W). This might work, but it might not as this is just a guess.

  7. thank you for the replies.
to Kdiddy, yes vcd title onto a dvd-r. My main reason is i own a japanese vcd set of a tv show, it is 13vcds in all, all leess then 60mins perdisc. I added it up that i would be able to get all 26 eps on 2 dvds (for convinece) instead of it being on 13vcds.
I figured their might be some way of putting it onto dvd, without having to re-encde or capture the fils. We tried tmpg and re-demuxed it as an mpeg 2 but that didnt work (it does work though for inputing svcds into vidoe pack 4, just remux it as a vcd nonstandard)
I will try the cdrwin advise as well--thanks again--
