  1. Ok, so I was trying to convert an AVI to SVCD like I've done a hundred times before. Except this time, TMPGEnc totally messes up the file during conversion. The original AVI plays just fine. here is a photo of my problem:

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried increase the directshow reader in tmpgenc?
    www.dvdrhelp.com/tmgpenc#problem (first problem)
    it usually helps.

Or else you could try update your divx, xvid codecs.

looks like an xvid prolem to me. like previously suggested, install the latest xvid codec and increase the priority of direct show filter in tmpgenc environmental settings.

  7. run the video through a fast recompress into a codec you know will work.

i've seen that problem with something that was encoded in 3ivx, but i didnt know crackas were still using that.

  8. Ran it through Vdub, there are no bad frames

Downloaded the latest XVid codec, which I already ahd anyhow. Reinatallled it. Set the Direct Show filter higher in TMPGEnc, still get the same thing. It does the entire movie like the pic I showed above

  9. What kind of processor do you have?

I've got a P4 and a AMD and my AMD has no probs with xvid but the P4 has having all kinds of troubles when i run it through tmpgenc and even the out come of the AMD is better.

  10. Here's my system specs:

    Pentium 3 1Ghz
    768 MB RAM

I don't think anything else is relevant

I've never had a problem like this before, and it's just that movie(Back to the Future 2) and Back to the Future 3....they're from the same release group

I also did Back To The Future I, also from trh same release group, and it was just fine

That's pretty sad seeing as the latest P4s benchmark higher than their AMD counterparts, and the P4 boasts it's SSE2.........just goes to show what's truly better at heart (or core, :P ).

  13. Hmm, anyone know how to figure out what codec was used then?

  14. Use GSPOT or just view the FourCC using the Properties -> Summary feature in Windows XP (now klew as to whether or not older versions of Windoze have this).

I have a P4 and never have any problems, I seriously doubt this is a CPU issue....

  16. Ok, well before i read the last couple posts I opened the movie in Vdub and went to file information, here's the info on the file:

    FourCC - DivX 5
Decompressor - DivX Pro 5.03 Codec
Audio stream: Fraunhoffer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec

  17. I think it is cause if installed the same codec and the same tmpgenc and the same version of XP on both machines and still when i try to set the settings (direct show filter in tmpgenc environmental settings) of tmpgenc to xvid on both machines with the same files the AMD works 100% and the P4 only 5% or so.

You're probably right, and it probably has more to do with the motherboard, because I have a P4 2GHz and AMD Athlon XP 1900+ and the P4 takes twice the time to encode. Reason: motherboard (or it could be the HD but I don't know that encoding i very harddrive intensive.)
