  1. I understand this question has been asked alot but I would appreciate if I could get the answer straight out in this thread. If I have a divx file, and I would like to put that on VCD or even DVD ( i have a dvd burner ) what is the highest quality I can get and the fastest way to do it?

  2. DIVX (MPEG4) is a completely different format from VCD (MPEG1) and DVD (MPEG2) ...... you will need to re-convert, no matter what.

    highest quality you'll get depends on the source...is your DIVX file good quality??

    as they say.... crap in=crap out

  4. EDIT: the guy above posted while i was typing this so i dont know if it would be much help

    if making vcd, the picture quality would be fixed to 1500kbps. however if you were to alter any vcd settings, you would be making an xvcd. most likely you would have to convert the divx to 2 vcd files if you are making vcd due to cd space. but if you make xvcd, you can lower the kbps and make the whole movie fit on 1 disc, but the quality would be worse with the lowered kbps. you can go to https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm to see how much kbps you can enter to make the video fit the disc you're burning it on. you can find how to convert divx with the guides on the left.

    i've never burned dvd so i cant help you about that

  5. well i figured DVD would be best because you could fit as much as you wanted, and the quality could be really good. Also, I dont even know how to make a dvd with mpg files or anything. To be quite honest, i haven't made use of my dvd burner yet for anything so this would help alot.

  6. @asdf,

    standard, compliant VCD is limited to CBR 1150 kbit/s. anything above would be non-compliant xVCD.

    @embi3n,

    weird..the link should work...just tested it myself...try this then:

    on the left side of the website, there's a link "GUIDES" click on that. then, scroll down to the CONVERT section. click on the first link in that section called "How to convert to DVD MPEG2" after that, again click on the first link in that section called "AVI 2 DVD±R guide"

    there ya go. there are other AVI->DVD links as well, so you may wanna check them all out.
