I capture at 480x480 with an ATI TV-Wonder & Vdub at 29.97fps. I use the Huff codec. My system runs at about 60%-70% while capturing. In about 1 hour of capture, I get about 30-35 dropped frames. I assume this is because of my soundcard. I then to IVTC in Vdub and convert to MPEG2 using TMPGEnc using the NTSC Film template. When I make the SVCD and play it on my DVD players, occasionally there is a barely noticeable jerkiness during a scene (for example) with quick head movement or something like that. Many times with quick movements, there is not jerkiness. I just don't understand what is causing this. For the most part the results are excellent. Is it those 35 dropped frames causing this?

Is the source you're capturing originally at NTSC film framerate? If not, using IVTC on it may cause occasional visible jerking since you would actually be deleting a few frames every second.

The original was filmed in 24fps film but has been telecined to give 30fps (you can see the 2:3 pattern of interlaced:non-interlaced). This is why I IVTC, to get it back to 24fps.
