Hi! I want made some SVCDs from my XVID or DIVX files and ive a question, which is the best couple programs for conversion?

DVD2SVCD with Cinema Craft Encoder or
    VirtualDub with TMPGenc encoder?

Note: Ive used the first option and it made a excelent svcd but the image get invert when test with Bsplayer. I alredy have Nimo Codec Pack, Xvid, and all codecs intaled in my pc. Helps about this question?

    Thanks.

That might be your first problem - I found Nimo Codec pack just gave me loads of conflicts etc..; it caused more problems than it solved!

The inverted picture sounds a lot like it might be a conflict with codecs.

I would uninstall Nimo, and just use the codecs you need (you can download most of them individually from places like this, divXdigest and doom9)

Also, I personally would not bother with SVCD if I'm converting a single-disc sized DivX or Xvid etc.. I really don't think the quality of the input is good enough to warrant SVCD - I just do VCD's, and save the SVCD's for DVD-rips.

That's just my humble opinion - I'm sure many would disagree.

The added bonus of that approach is that VCD's are so easy - just bung the Xvid through TMPGEnc and voila (although Xvid's often seem to come with AC3 sound, which makes things a little more complex, but not much).

I hope that is of some help.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

I disagree. Make an mpeg2 in either CVD resolution (352X480) or SVCD resolution (480X480) and author it as an SVCD. I use 2-pass VBR and can squeeze most movies onto 2 disks. It's strictly personal choice of course, but I find the quality much better than VCD.

BTW, I use Vdub and TMPGEnc, and Goldwave if the sound is VBR or AC3.

  4. ZippyP, thanks for disagreeing so politely

I agree about Goldwave, vDub and TMPGEnc for 'odd' audio streams in MPEG-4's by-the-way.

I still think that djfcg should try removing Nimo Codec Pack, and try your SVCD process again with only the codecs you need installed.

    I second that suggestion!

  6. Many DVD-Rips come in XviD/DivX form....as for the "weird" audio formats, my humble opinion is that extracting them with the Demux tool in VDubMod is the best way to go, then BeSweet to it , I made a funny!

  7. funkguy4 - when I say save the SVCD's for DVD-rips I mean when you rip a DVD to your harddisk - so you have 4+ gigs of vobs to work with.

Some DivX's and particularly Xvids (e.g. the 2-part Xvids with AC3 sound etc) are really good quality, and maybe warrant being put on SVCD - I'm really talking about the Div3 Low Motion 1-disc avi's which kick around, and are not really up to much in terms of quality - VCD is as good as they are going to get.

djfcg - have we helped at all?

    cheers,
    mcdruid.
