I got into video editing few months back and bought Sony digital camera, I shot my 1st home movie (kids birthday) and wanted to burn it on the DVD OR EVEN VCD. I used Ulead video studio 7 to capture and to render my video on the VCD (I BOUGHT WRONG dvd-r'S My DVD burner is +r/rw and I bought DVD-r). I did not use any other software for encoding etc. I used Ulead step by step from capturing to editing to making VCD. After making my VCD I found the problem, my audio and video was not in sync. It started out okay, but few minutes into the movie video was few seconds (~ 15sec.) ahead of the audio. Where did I go wrong?
I have the following pc:
P4 - 2.0 GHZ
1 GB DDR
1 GB HDR
IEEE1394 FIREWIRE CARD FROM WD
Can you please advise? Is there any books that you can recommend to me! I don't want to do too much, just make simple home DV DVD's.

1. Use ULead VS 7 to capture and edit. Keep the AVI files intact; do not convert them to MPG.
2. For encoding to MPG (MP1 or MP2), use TMPGEnc.
3. For VCD/SVCD making, use VCDEasy or TSCV. Make the bin/cue files.
4. I haven't made DVD's as yet, as I do not have a DVD-bruner yet. Going to buy soon. So can't advise on a good DVD authoring s/w. Try searching the forum.
5. Burning (S)VCD can be achieved in VCDEasy or Nero (use the bin/cue files to burn the image)
The above has worked for me.
