I use record now max to backup my dvd collection but I need to know the best way to backup vcd/svcd movies
Do i still burn as a data disk as I do when burning dvd
this is a silly question I know but really i am stuck !

VCD's aren't burned in data mode. If you want to copy an (S)vcd then just do a straight disk copy.

To copy an existing CD (even VDC, SVCD) just use the Wizard-->Make an exact copy
You can do it on-the-fly OR select the same drive as reader and writer (so it goes to the HDD first)
