I have a DivX video from the internet which I want to make a VCD of. For some reason the resulting mpg from TMPG does not contain the audio part, even TMPG does not give me any error messages.
So I extacted the audio with VDub to a wav file and was then looking for a way to convert it to a format which can be read by TMPG Multiplexer.
That's where I downloaded tooLame but the mp2 it creates does only contain weired noises. I got the same result with some other converting tool I downloaded from the net.
Am I required to install any drivers, codex or whatever in order to make tooLame work?
I came up with the solution to use a plugin from WINAMP which creates a mp3 from the wav file. This worked. Any disadvantages creating a mp3 instead of a mp2 file?

When you demultiplexed the avi with VirtualDub, did you set audio to PCM uncompressed and Audio-> Full processing mode before saving? TooLAME may have problems with compressed files.
