  1. Hi,
I have this avi file and here is the info i got using avicodec:

    File : 200 MB (200 MB), duration 1:18:22, type AVI, 1 audio stream(s)

    Video : 173 MB, 309 Kbps, 25.0 fps, res. 352*288 (4:3), DIV3 = DivX v3 MPEG-4 (Low-Motion), Supported

    Audio : 26 MB, 47 Kbps, 22050 Hz, 2 chan., 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported

I know it is pal (25.0 fps) . So I assume the video is mpeg4 and audio is mpeg3, am I right?
Well I opened it up in TMPGEnc and started to encode it as NTSC (29.0 fps) but decided to stop as it said it take 7 hours to encode and figured I better ask first if anyone would think it the file would end up being bad after encoding? I have read the paldvd 2 ntsc dvd but still confused if i have to still do all those steps to burn it to a svcd since it seemed TMPGEnc had no problem opening it up and started to encode it befroe I aborted. I have a Apex AD-1110W and I see a setting for pal... If I burn it without converting it would it play? I also read about ppl "hacking" dvd players... how do you do that? Sorry off topic.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

    Do a short test.

Load it into TMPGEnc, mark out about a 2 minute clip from the center of the file and convert that.

Check the output, if it works to your satisfaction, then go ahead with the entire clip.
