What is the best dvd ripper

Yeah Smartripper, i believe, is the best ripping program but DVDDecrypter is also a good ripping program

I'll third those suggestions - I use DVD Decrypter for most backups, and all single-layer backups.

Every once in a while, I'll hit a disc where Decrypter chokes on a couple of files and can't copy them. Then I'll whip out SmartRipper, and sic it on those files... hasn't been beat yet.

But I prefer the interface of Decrypter over SmartRipper for general use.

weird, exact opposite for me. dvddecryptor seems to be able to handle multi-angles and seemless branching better than smartripper.....

my smartripper had trouble with T2: ultimate ed (b4 the extreme ed. came out), while dvddecryptor didn't.

DVD DEcrypter is considered to be the best (faster, more options, can burn CDR/DVDR, etc). But in the end it really doesn't matter. While there are some DVDs that seem to only rip with on or the other, 99.9%+ of DVDs work with either program.

I use to be a smart ripper fan, but you can do so much more with DVD Decrypter that I switched. For the 'true ripper' try vstrip

If you end goal is creating a DVd, you could try DVdshrink, this has a ripper built in.

the rippers included with those transcoders and other software packages are prolly never gonna be as good as dedicated ripping proggies...

both smartripper and dvddecryptor have gone through many revisions to be where they are today....they are both dedicated rippers...not very much else..except maybe for dvddecryptor's dvd .iso burning..but that's about it....they concentrate on ripping, and they've gotten really good at it.

i use dvdshrink for transocoding only....i've heard it's ripping has some problems...hence, i stick with dvddecryptor for ripping and nero express for burning....
