  1. I can't get my external firewire DVR-105 to burn discs from Toast 5.2.1 in OSX (everything works fine in OS9).I have reason to believe this is a common, if not universal, problem.Anyone have any info on this??

    Thanks-

This information is in the other post you have thats still quite active. Since its on a different topic (and may allow others to reply who know an answer) ill keep it here

but future reference, there is no need to make a new post if its being discussed in another still active one.
    thanks

EDIT: Now you can see why its not encouraged to have double posts with the same information as whats in a current post. We get double replies and lots of confusion.

I've got a Lacie d2 Firewire/USB 2.0 external drive which uses the Pioneer DVR-105. Never had a problem ( 'cept in 10.2.6, i'd get a buffer underrun as soon as toast finished writing the "lead-in" for ANY DVD. What a piss off )

I refuse to update to 10.2.6..been using 10.2.1 for the last while now.

    Stupid apple!

    Nothing ever works!

i having problems with my dvr-105 too, but only with cd-r and cdrw. i wont let me burn them. and it takes forever to mount a cdrom. dvds burn fine. i havnt notice if this was due to 10.2.6. does this sound familar? i just got the burner about 2 weeks ago, and i wanna make sure it the os and not the burner it self.

Is yours external as well? or Internal
Superdrives to take a little longer than combo drives to mound disks, especailly dvd's so thats not so much of a concern. and when it wont let you burn cd's what program are you using? Toast? iApps? disk copy?

more information will help me with your situation.

    as for Percy Dovetonsils
I asked my brother, he said he just hooked it up, toast saw it and he burns with it. Does it have burning errors for cd's or just dvds?

well it does mount dvds but it takes about 1.5 min to mount cds, i'm using an external dvr 105 firewire on an imac. it wont burn cds on any program i use, toast, itunes, finder. it sounds like it wont mount the cd-r. like i said i dont have any probs with dvds/dvdrs. what do u think?

  7. I have a Pioneer 105 in an external firewire case. Firmware is 1.0.
It burns everything without problem : DVD-R(W) and CDR(W).
Maybe the "problem" is in the interface of your external case, that's not supported in any way by macOS X, or then your firmware.

But my answer is that basically not ALL Pioneer 105 have a problem with Toast 5.2.1 and MacOS X, must be in certain conditions...

well know it got wose, it wont burn anything! i'm not sure if its due to 10.2.6 or a mechanical problem. i just got it about a month ago. I burned several dvds and cdrs. but now nothing. could it be the OS?

  9. EddieRomo, just try burning under MacOS 9, you'll be fixed if it's an OS or an hardware problem.
If it's so obvious (nothing possible under Jaguar), I would return it to the vendor...

Won't burn anything in OSX 10.2.6
    From Toast or the finder.
The drive case is some generic thing I got from Other World Computing that originally had a different Pioneer DVD-R Drive (DVR-104).
BTW I have an Ibook 600Mhz for what it's worth.
It will read DVD's and CD's no problem in osx-just won't write 'em....just haaaangs at the beginning and that's it.
I have no problems burning anything in 9.2.2 though (fortunately).

I've given up trying to solve it-it works in OS9 so I'll just deal till I can afford a new Mac with a built in Superdrive...

    As always-thanks!
