  1. what program will allow me to sync a separate audio track to a video? i'm using tmpgenc's encoder and authoring software right now and it doesn't seem to allow for this. ideally, if there is some kind of authoring software that will do this, that would be preferred, as i like using the tmpgenc encoder. thanks in advance and sorry if this is a re-post.

  2. Not sure I fully understand what you need.

Is the audio and video tracks completley seperate, like a silent movie with a voice over, or do you simply have the audio and video of a movie in seperate files? Please explain more.

  3. i have some concert footage i want to convert. i have the audio from the camcorder and a (better quality) separate audio track from another source. the two sources are complete without cuts, meaning all i need to do is sync the movie at one point, then trim the beginning and ends as needed, and the audio and video will be in sync for the entire movie. i need some kind of software where in real time i can adjust the audio track to the video track.

  4. Doesn't sound too easy to me. About all I can suggest is a high end consumer or low end proffesional editing app. For high end consumer look at Adobe Premiere ar Vegas Video. I am no expert on these so I can't guarantee they will do exactly what you want!

Just guessing here, but I think you need to make sure that the audio track is exactly the same length as the video track, which 'in theory' should mean that they will synch perfectly

If the audio track is not 'exactly' the same length, the best bet is to use an audio editor to slow down or speed up the audio track until it is the same length as the video

The best or simplest program I've tried is BeSweet, but make sure you get the BeSweetGUi as well, and the associated stuff you need to use with BeSweet. All to be found in the 'tools' section on here

You could also try using Cool Edir Pro, SoundProbe or GoldWave for cheaper semi-professional audio editors

you are going to need a video editing program that can import the audio format you are using.

the problem with the "audio the exact same length as video" posts above is that the length has nothing to do with the sync - it's an independant audio track, not an audio track ripped from the same source.

import the video file, and the audio file you want to use in place of the original. scrub through the file until you can find a point you can recognize - a drum hit, a closeup of a singer, etc.

then move the audio until it is in sync. expect to take some time with it.

check the Tools section at left for video editors - most can accept an extra audio track in addition to the original, so if the wave forms are similar, you can use that as an aide to lining up the audio.

freeware... there's Zwei-Stein, at www.thugsatbay.com, there's also MovieXone and ABC Video Roll - both have been discontinued, but there are copies floating around on the net if you do a Google search (be prepared to dig through a lot of useless pages and dead links).

payware - Adobe Premeiere, Vegas Video, Ulead Video Studio... all should be able to handle this, it's more a matter of what you like. Sonic Foundry Video Factory is a cheap alternate, what you are trying to do is pretty simple.

    good luck.
