I wanna capture some old vhs tapes
but when i capture 7 min the file is almost as big as a movie .
size 731.377.664
I'm using Wintv 2000
Output i want to have is Avi
Compressing codec i use divx 5.0.5
who can help me out![]()

Sounds like you are capturing into DV format. The numbers are about right. I am not familiar with WinTV, can it encode while it captures?
If so, re-check your settings and make sure it is applying the codec correctly.Just what is this reality thing anyway? -
you are capturing with the wrong codec.
capturing direct to divx is very processor intensive. since you have already captured the file, open it in VirtualDub, select Full Processing under Video, and Divx 5 under compression codec, and reencode the file.
or figure out where you can change the codec you are capturing with in your capture app, and change it. it sounds like it is defaulting to a DV codec.- housepig
