For price alone I would get the NEC, and for best quality I would go for the Pioneer.

NEC 1300 is a good drive if you are willing to buy high quility dvd media but it hates cheap media. It mostly likes Japanese media. For the price its a good burner.

I have both the Sony and the Pioneer and I would get the Pioneer between the two.
The Sony is a nice burner, but I actually prefer the way the Pioneer works, and it is cheaper."Like a knife, he cuts through life, like every day's his last" -- Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
