  1. I've tried multiple searches on this, but no luck...

I have two DVD players: an older Sony DVP-S330, and a newer JVC XV-S60. I burn family videos (digital video) to DVD-Rs using Pinnacle Studio and Nero. I found a brand that works in both players (everything works in the Sony, but the JVC is VERY picky): Imation.

In the Sony everything works: video, audio, and every feature the DVD player has.

However, in the JVC, I've found one feature that doesn't work: scan forward/backward. It causes the tray to open.

Before I go out and keep trying to find the "perfect" media brand, I was wondering if this is likely just a problem with the JVC that won't be overcome no matter what I do. In other words, there always seems to be one issue with the JVC regardless of what brand. For some brands, it's the video. For some, it's the audio. And now, the scan.

Do I need to just accept that the JVC is extremely picky and will not be appeased? Or can something like this be resolved with a different brand, different burning software, different DVD burner, etc?

  2. Why don't you look at the user comments about your JVC player here.
