I'm new to this, and I'm not sure if my problem is related to my DV camcorder, my VideoWave4 software or my computer hardware.

When I make a "FireWire" connection from my Canon ZR70MC to my PC (an AMD K6-2 550 MHz with 256 meg memory and an adaptec "FireWire" card), the video comes across fine, but the audio has dropouts which seem to have abut a 50% "duty cycle".

If I use the digital connection for the video and send the audio in through the analog sound card, both audio and video come across OK.

Any thoughts as to why the full digital transfer has the audio problem would be appreciated.

  2. I used VideoWave for a year or so with my ZR30.
Grab a copy of AMcap from the tools section and capture using it. That will tell you if it is Video Wave or your camera.
One other thought, I have had dropouts with my ZR30 when capturing material that was recorded in LP mode from the AV inputs.
Although the sound played correctly on the camera, it had problems when I captured it.
Just what is this reality thing anyway?

  3. I have been doing captures with a Canon ZR65 and have NEVER been successful on any of my several AMD K6-2 machines! This is most probably because of their lack of speed.

I get great caputres with a minimum system of 1ghz AMD Duron or an Intel P3 od the same speed. I have also had reasonable luck with an older P2 machine running Win2k @ 850mhz.

Also, the best capture progie I've found so far is DVIO which can be found

<--- over here in the TOOLS section. Bonus... It's freeware!

I have several hours of DV captured with my ZR65 using the above hardware and DVIO. It has all been very stable.
