Man killed by train in Somerset County

A young man walking toward a swimming area was killed by a train yesterday in Somerset County.

State police said Joseph Walker, 19, of the village of Listie, was walking into the Falls Cut Tunnel in Fairhope Township around 7 p.m. with a group of friends.

Walker was on one track, heard a CSX train approaching, and without looking, assumed the train was on his track. Walker crossed onto the other track, right into the path of the approaching train.

He died at the scene.
