RE: CATV (Cable tv) >> Any recording program
Ive tried many recorders and get the same result every time.
When i press on 'record', its like someone just pulled the plug and all i record is a static picture and sound.?
Preview works fine..
I found the software designed for the card here:
http://www.prolink.com.tw/2003/english/products/multimedia/playtv%20dvr%20tv.htm
Pixelview works best, but even that, when u press 'record', the screen goes static and records static..
Why?
Ok... this is getting weirder..
I just tried a program called "AVI_IO".
Its a very simple program that was easy to follow the instructions to setting it up.
The same thing happens!!
I hit record and it goes all static and all it records is videos of static?
Any suggestions would be good thanks?......... this year.
Ive searched this entire site for 48 hours and found nothing to help.

Sorry...
I dont remember asking for an opinion about whether its a good card or not. Read the question and try again. Maybe your read the wrong forum?
If it captures at 320x240 then thats all i need.
It didnt cost me anything and im not going to waste money paying for a card that i dont need anything more then 320x240..
Constructive answers please...

It was constructive.
How long have you had this, and how much have you recorded to date?
If you've recorded nothing, then look at the hardware being defective or other conflicts on your system.
If you use WinDVR, it says you can get up to 720x480 MPEG2. Try it.
Maybe it only looks bad during capture. What about the final file?I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
Ok, here it is in a simple few lines u can understand...
All it records is static. static video and static sound.
The final file is static. When i click on record, the preview window goes from normal preview (ie. i can watch and hear tv) to static. And i have to press the "source" button a few times to get back to S-VHS so i can preview again.
It previews fine, overlay etc... -
Your card seems to be one of the latest Pixelview cards and they are supposed to be excellent. Check out all settings in software. Pl. enable preview mode (if provided) before capturing. The newer ones are with Cx series chips.
Older ones had Btx series chips for which superb third party software is available. Mine is an older card-I use ULead DVD Movie Factory for capture to MPEG2 with Btwincap drivers. Superb captures. Works well with PIII 800 MHz and above. -
Hey thanks...
I appreciate your advise..
Im pretty good with computers, but capture cards are a new thing to me, so i know how to install, setup software etc..
Honestly, i have tried about 10 different apps and they all do the same thing.. They preview fine but when i click on 'record' (in any app) the window goes static, and sound goes static and it does record... but only what im seeing in the preview... which is... yes, static.
I cant see how so many apps can have the same problem.
One thing i notice is that in most guides there is the WDM driver drop down and then the card listed in there too.... Mine isnt listed... Im not sure if this is because mine uses the WDM capture driver and therefore isnt listed. Although it is listed in some as just Conexant.
I agree... from what i can see in preview, it looks adequte for my needs -

In all the years of visiting/moderating forums, I've never come across someone as impolite, sarcastic and abrupt as you.
I would have told you to **** off a long time ago. -
As bad as that sounds coming from someone's first post, I completely agree. txpharoah is usually on the money for technical/quality issues. I say "usually" because I haven't read all his posts
If you are having nothing but problems with a piece of hardware, it's only logical for someone to say "get a better card." For someone with less than 20 posts, you've shown yourself to be an ungrateful ass.
Also, posting the same questioon in 5 different threads won't get the question answered any faster. -
lmao..
Ive been here 60 something hours and havent found any help except for one person who DOESNT think hes better then the rest of us, which is 'mgh'. Thanks mgh... your input was great.... and helped me solve the problem... thanks to a quick search on google.
Not sure if its because theres a bunch of monkeys running this forum or whatever. The impression i get is some think they know it all, yet know nothing so resort to stupid lines like........
"Get a better card. Seriously. That things has a max resolution of CIF 352x288. YUCK!"
Seriously, thanks something a 12 year old would say...lmao
Theres no need to resort to ignorance just because u have no idea how to solve the problem.. and that goes for all of you, except mgh.
Anyhow, good news, i found the answer in another forum... and i didnt have to wait 24 hours to get a 12 year old awnser...so i guess you bum-chums can go back to your pretend forum....
I wish i never came here, it was a complete waste of time...
Shop around folks... theres plenty of decent forums around without the losers...
