  2. Got it. Love it. Recommend it. Sorry, no coasters for sale, though.

  4. It's very loud when reading discs. Firmware freezes my comp with every version I've flashed. (but now Nero does read 8 mb cache, but what does it matter, it has burn proof technology.) I wish I could use Roxio but the dd0203 drive isn't supported (not DVD anyway) Eject button is small and opens/closes in slow motion. I don't think you can vertical mount unit either. Drive door could use some foam around it. I'm using B's Clip for DVD+rw's with full format option (roxio only has quick format option)

  5. The HD-Burn feature doesn't work on mine. If y'all get it running let me know what you did. I upgraded B's to v5.23 and firmware to 2.09, still no success. I hate B's, but Nero doesn't support this drive yet.

Other than the HD-Burn, which I will probably never use, it seems fine. No noise problems like you've described, fish. Of course, you couldn't hear anything over my cooling system, anyway!

I have noticed one thing. I can't get any sound from audio CDs through my soundcard. The MMC cable is connected and all inputs are unmuted in the mixer. What obvious step have I missed?

  6. I can burn fine with Nero, the new version 5.5.10.42 and the version before that. Nero even supports the HD burn feature, but you have to use supported CD-R media. Audio plays fine on through comp speakers. Nero Mix seems to be able to play audio through the IDE cable.

  7. Supported CD-R? Hmmm, I didn't realize that media had to support this feature. That may explain why it's gives the error "Head Select Fault" but can still burn a regular CD or DVD...

Enlighten me. What media supports HD-Burn?

Still no audio. Must ponder further...

    Hi,
Yesterday i installed my OptoRite DVD writer. The instalation was fast and easy.
    I burned an home made video on a DVD+R and MP's3 on a CD-R.
    Works great.
    Also, no particular noises....

    I Am Happy!
