  1. Hello I need some help, I have a lot of .mpg files and even have tmpeg on my pc. I have convert some to mpeg2 and tried them in their current .mpg state. I have not burned a single dvd-r that works on any dvd player. They only work on my pc and used that silly little udf 1.02 setting and nothing works, am I missing a step? I want to make a music video dvd out of the files that I downloaded and some of the old cartoon episodes that I have. I need some advice on how to make this work or even how to burn them properly on a dvd-r so they will play in a dvd thanks!!!!

First have you determined that your DVD Player will play the media you are producing. Take your disk to a retail store that has DVD players hooked up to TVs or plugged into a power outlet. Try playing your disk in the ones that say they will play DVD-. If you get a picture or running counter then you know it's your player and not your media, authoring process or burning program. Is your player listed to the left of this forum under DVD Player?

  4. Assuming that you have DVD compliant mpeg2 files and assuming that you are trying to burn authored mpegs in a VIDEO_TS folder and a blank AUDIO_TS folder, try the UDF/ISO template in Nero.

  5. It sounds like your trying to burn .mpg files directly to a DVDR. this will only work for a DVD player that can read .mpg files directly. If your player cannot do this, you will need to author the .mpg file through an authoring program, then make(burn) a DVD-Video disc.

  6. Yes my dvd play does play dvd-r's. I have used dvdshrink and they work perfectly on them it also plays all the svcd's that I have burned. I think the last person was right. I need to use some type of dvd authoring to make the correct files on the dvd. Hmmm. Any suggestions? I will try that svcd to dvd site also, thanks!!

  8. Yes, it definitely sounds like you are trying to simply burn the mpg's to the DVDR and that will not work in most players. Most DVD players require the files to be compiled and ordered in a certain format to work. That is why, as you correctly deduced, you need an authoring program to get the files ordered correctly.

You should have received an authoring program with your burner, most of them come with one, mostly pretty simple ones like sonic My DVD.

DVD-Lab has a 30 day trial and is an excellent step up from the free ones with your burner. It is a good option.
