  1. Hi,

I just got an Audiovox Movies2Go MMDV3 player for my van with an Audiovox ceiling mount screen and I'm having problems with some previously written DVD-Rs.

I've tried several of my DVD-Rs with mixed results. All of the DVD-Rs I tested play fine in my 2 consumer players and my computer DVD drive. The pattern I've found is:

    1. Original Single layer DVDs that were burned to DVD-Rs with DVD-Decryptor Read-ISO and Write-ISO work fine in all players.

    2. Original DVDs that were ripped with DVD-Decrypter, compressed with DVD2One and burned with Nero don't work with the mobile Audiovox player but work fine with consumer and computer DVD players.

With the Audiovox player I get a "Smart Nav" diretory structure of the DVD (ie. see AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS) directories. I can navigate into the directories and play the VOB files, sometimes with no audio. The disc however doesn't get a menu or the ability to jump ahead to other chapters. Again, the same DVD works fine in my consumer players.

Since I don't use Nero and DVD2One with Single Layer DVDs, I suspect one of those must be the problem.

Could Nero somehow be producing a DVD format slightly incompatible with this player? Any recommendations of a more compatible burning software?

    Thanks,
    x

What version or flavor of Nero were you using. "Express or Burning ROM"?
There was an issue of needing to change the UDF settings in Nero Burning Rom to make the playing compatibility issue go away. It been posted several times on this site. Help! Only a start, maybe someone else might have a better starting place to trouble shoot your problem.

  3. I'm using

    Nero 5 Burning ROM
    5.5.10.20 Enterprise Edition

The template I've been using to create DVDs is DVD-ROM (UDF) and the only option I've been ensuring is set is File System Version 1.02.

jdizzy, I've been researching what you mentioned and found a lot of people are recommending Nero configuration with:

    1)DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO)
    2)No Multisession
3)ISO settings ISO level 1,ISO 9660 (Joliet is disabled)
All ISO restrictions Disabled(Allow path depths etc OFF)
Also make sure UDF1.02 is checked as the physical partition.

Is this what you were refering to?

    Others mentioned using DVD-Video template.

    Thanks,

  5. I tried the UDF/ISO settings listed above and no change problem still happens with those settings.

With this Audiovox MMDV3/AVD300 player I get a folder directory listing that pops up. Root on the left, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS on the right.

I can navigate to the files in VIDEO_TS. I can even play them. If I start playing the first file of the movie I get video and audio. I can't jump chapter points and I can't change audio formats. If I play a VOB other than the first one I get no audio, video looks good.

    I tried one other format/template within Nero -> DVD-Video.

This worked! It played fine in my Audiovox and after briefly testing in my consumer players they worked.

My questions/concerns now are "Is DVD-Video template in Nero as compatible/tranportable to other players as DVD-UDF and DVD-UDF/ISO?"

"Should I start burning all my dvds with DVD-Video as the template? If I do could I expect other compatibility problems?"

"Whats the difference between DVD-VIDEO and DVD-UDF or DVD-UDF/ISO?"

    Thanks again!

Use the DVD-Video template for 5.5.10.20 or higher. Maybe try 5.5.10.28, but not 5.5.10.35 (from what I hear).

If it still doesn't work, try RecordNow Max.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  7. Try different burning software... RecordNow Max, DVDdecrypter image tool, Prassi, etc...

I got sick of messing with Nero trying to find the right settings to work... switched to RecordNow Max and it works perfect evertime...

  8. Are there any specific options that should be used with RecordNow Max to ensure compatibility?

Like file system (UDF-Joilet vs UDF,Trackat Once Closed/Open)??

    Thanks again,

  9. no, by default, recorndnow max has the dvd compatability turned on.... so all you need to do is select 'data' job and drag the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders into it.. and hit record... it will check your file structure to see if it is compliant

Not wishing to start a fight or anything + don't have a burner to try (should be ordered in the next 2 weeks, got approval from the big boss, i.e. wife) BUT:

The AUDIO_TS folder is not required for a DVD Video disk, it is part of the DVD Audio spec.

See www.disctronics.co.uk, click on 'Downloads' in the top menu bar of the page (blue), and then scroll down to 'CD and DVD Documents'. This provides useful information that could probably help all those people with NERO problems, it describes file system formats (UDF, ...), etc.

    Good luck,

    J
