  1. when going dvd ==>vcd using smartripper, dvd2avi, and tmpgenc... some dvds rip fine and look great with widescreen that looks good for a rip... now others will remove the black bars during encoding... and when you play them using wmp they strech to fit the screen and look all distorted. anyone know why this happens and what i can do to fix it?

  3. the DVD that I tried is a 'Theatical Widescreen Format'. The ripped file came out either stretch or compressed (whatever you want to call it). Can somebody tell us how to fix this.

The stretched one are probably anamorphics dvds so then you must select the correct ratio in TMPGEnc->Settings->Advanced->Source Aspect Ratio, 16:9 or 2.35 display.

  5. I got it. Using DVDx and goto output setting and set 16:9 and 4:3 ratio and the output file came out right.
