  1. I have ATI MMC 7.9 and the largest resolution for mpeg-2 capture is 640x240. IS there anyway to capture in 720x480?

I believe the card controls that aspect, not the MMC.

  3. I had MMC 7.6 and capture 720*480 and I upgrade to MMC8.1 and capture 720*480 may be MMC7.9 they forgot to put in 782*480 in MMC 7.5 the mess it up they had a DVD setting but the audio was 44.1 not 48K and you could not even make a DVD even thow they but the DVD template in there. Or you might have a bad install. If I was you upgrade to MMC 8.1 or MMC 8.5

  5. I believe for 8.1 or 8.5 you have to buy the CD from ATI.

No. Only to use the DVD Player. Ignore the "own the CD" warning, and download and install. You'll get a nag message that say "cannot install DVD Player". Just hit okay, and move on. I have PowerDVD and WinDVD, so I couldn't care less.

    Go here:
    http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver.html

Select Multimedia Center, your operating system and then the product you have and it will point you to a download for MMC 8.5. I have to AIW Radeon 8500 so the link it gave me was:

    http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mmc-8-5-0-0.exe

Some cards only support 7.9 as the max MMC.

The MMC splash screen says it.
