Hi all,
Can anybody help?! I am the only one out of my mates who buys vcds. Thats not the problem but when they lend them to mates who copy them - thats annoying!!
I want to find out if it is possible to Protect a VCD after burning it. I.e. So that nobody else can copy it.
Thanks

There is no way to effectively stop a VCD from being copied.
If you want some further discussions on the matter I recommend a forum search because I remember a really good topic was had on this exact topic a month or so ago. But basically the final outcome was, that unless you are dealing with morons, then the disc will be copied. -
One of the main reasons for this site is to get around cprotection, so I would say no way.

Any DVD/DVDR/DVDRW/CD/CDR/CDRW can be effectively copied. Certain disks have errors built in as part of the copy protection, but you can image these and mount the file as a virtual drive.
So the answer is no, no way to keep from disks from being copied. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Wow, you guys may have been a little hard on him. Sounds to me like he's trying keep people from warezing stuff. Was there not something called "freelock" a while back that had a guide with it. Sure, it won't keep everyone from copying stuff but it may keep the average beer swilling buddy from copying.

I remember watching on TechTV a while ago and they were showing a program that was able to write bad sectors to a disk. I can't remember the show, date, or name of the program. Maybe search on their website? It would stop someone from copying it if they were not trying hard.
Wow, this was a very un-informative post."A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct."

Besides the question wasn't 'can I stop most people or the average person.' It's a digital medium, and there is no way to stop people from copying a VCD.
I don't think anyone was being hard on the guy. He asked a question and got an honest answer. What more do you think should have been said/done? -

Overall though the tone of that discussion and all previous ones on VCD protection have all come up the same, that it is not possible to protect a VCD effectively. -
