  1. I've heard alot about this VCD header trick but can't seem to find out how to do it. Can somebody tell me how to do it and what DVD players it works with?

Thats the guide for the header trick. The only problem that I have found with the header trick is that it doesnt work. A few people have claimed finding success with it, but my guess most of those people are high.

You can look on the DVD player list here to see if anyone has mentioned your players compatability with the trick, bust most likely it isnt compatable. Just read up on how to convert SVCD to VCD, and see if your player can play XVCD. That or stay in a couple nights until you have the relativly few dollars it costs for an APEX DVD player. [/url]

:: edit - didnt realize it had been moved.

Nope, not high, just one of the lucky ones for whom the Header Trick actually works. I understand that it commonly works for many Sony DVD players (like the one I use it on).

The only thing that I would disagree with in the above guide is that it should be set to Mpeg1-Video CD (non-standard), works for me anyway.

Count me in the "me-too" side. It works for me and my Panasonic standalone.
Only for me I have to remux with Standard VCD. I tried the non standard VCD and it just would not work. Hmmmm.. However, my Panasonic will play just about any XVCD thrown at it. Go figure.

Same for me, I tried the header trick on my Panasonic RV32, and if you choose non-standard it won't work. Use Standard Video-CD and it works fine

  7. Trying out this vcd header trick but I encounter 2 problems.
1: vcd easy says it's not a vcd file and refuses to have anything to do with it.
2: in Nero I turn off the compliance and the filesize is huge but I'm trying to overburn it but I doubt it'll work as Nero says it's 88mins long(set the overburn to 90mins.
I am testing this out on an svcd that I downloaded and I have already successfully burned the original bin/cue files to an svcd.
The reason i'm doing this is that my friends dvd player won't play svcds and it's a real bind reencoding them to vcd... Anyone else expienced this filesize problem????

  8. I have tired to numorous times, maybe it's just a stubborn DVD player, (in fact it was replaced by an APEX AD-1200 some time ago) but myself with my infanite wealth of knowledge could not get it to work. I guess it's worth a try.
