  1. hi

i'm trying to make a dvd movie from a avi file. everything works fine exept one thing. the sound is out of sync.

in the beginig it is all fine and no sync problem, and in the end it is also fine. so it seems like it goes more and more out of sync until i comes to the middle when it goes slowly back to being fine.

    anyone know a solution?

btw. when i extract the sound (mp3) in vdub with directstream it's no probleme. the problems start when i convert it to pcm or ac3 with or witout resampling (44100hz->48000hz)

  2. Hey,

In all honesty, it isn't worth the hassle trying to figure this out. I spent weeks trying with the same issue. There are just too many variables.
It could be frameserved incorrectly when the DVD is ripped,
It could be the Variable Bit Rate settings are off when ripped/converted
It could be that if the source file was out of sync, the person who ripped it may have resampled it to a different frequency to correct the issue or stretched it or displaced it in an audio editing program - in which case you would fiddle for days trying to figure it out....There are just too many variables,

My advice is....if the audio is messed, it's most likely the source file you are using. Try downloading another copy off the net, or try ripping it yourself from an original. It isn't worth the hassle man. I was trying this on Kiss of the Dragon for weeks. I finally gave up...but I learned a lot.

    Good luck

  3. Ouch, this is the only problem that remains for me as well. Everything else is perfect including quality in a xvid --> dvdr conversion. Audio syncs out after a vdub and ac3machine it to an ac3 file and author it in DVDLab.

I know the source xvid is perfectly fine in sync, it was however using VBR. So frustrating though I am surprised there are not more guides that focus on audio sync problems as well because what good is a conversion if audio is not in sync??[/code]
