  1. Hi everyone,

As this is my first post, let me first thanks all of you for the high quality level found on those forums.

I have a strange behavior with Dvd2dvdr while trying to re-encode 12 Angry Men (Z2 Pal, Black & White)
    I use Dvd2dvdr 1.4.9 with CCE 2.67.00.09

I'm selecting French and English languages and subtitles.

CCE is well set up using Bitrate Viewer.

Everything seems to be just fine.

Dvd2dvdr starts, rips, frameserves, compress with CCE and then Ifoedit opens a box and asks me for a M2V file.
I select the M2V just done by CCE...and Ifoedit crashes.

This box opened in Ifoedit is really strange,
I just did The Insider and everything went smooth from the start to the end.
    No window in Ifoedit.

    Am I missing something ?
Is there anything wrong with Black & White movie ?
is there a limit to the path depth in Ifoedit ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

  2. the first thing your missing is NOT to use IFOEdit with ANY NTSC release. I'm assuming the movie is NTSC....but I could be wrong. At any rate....I can say one thing...that error isn't common but I know that the latest versions of DVD2DVDR just started supporting the latest CCE versions....I personally use CCE 2.5 because I've never had an issue with it.....and there could be some bugs with DVD2DVDR along with CCE's newest version. I wouldn't use IFOEdit with any NTSC film though, as it has been reported many times there are issues which are unrelated to the one's you are experiencing.

  3. Thanks for your answer Defense but this Dvd is a Z2 PAL.

If there is one thing I've understood while browsing all those forums
it's that we (Europeans Z2) are lucky to have this tool for us.

The encoding part with CCE completes perfectly, I'm able to read the M2V file with Bsplayer.

As I said, everything is well set up.
My Pc runs Win2k, 100 Gb of HD space, never had any problems with Dvd Shrink, Dvd2one, CloneDvd, IC and even Dvd2dvdr....except with this movie, the only Black & White movie I've tried until now.

I like to use Dvd2dvdr as CPU time is not a problem for me.

    Thanks again for your help

  4. As this topic seems a big success and as I seem to be the only one having this problem, here is my "work in progress" :

    - The PC I'm using is at my office, it's used mainly for NT Domain Administration (that's my job).
I use it at night for re-encoding Dvds.

    - In Dvd2dvdr process, after CCE encoding, Ifoedit opens the "Dvd Author / Multiplex" box and automatically fills the M2v stream file, the audio Stream(s) file(s) and the Subpicture(s) file(s).

I've noticed the keyboard and the mouse seem "locked" at this time, normal.

    - My PC sometimes receives Popups, Alerts, that's his role.
I though this could be the problem if a popup occurs when the "Dvd Author / Multiplex" box is filled.

I've unplugged my LAN connection at night, so no popups...same problem.

    Next

    - Bitrate Viewer analysed the video stream as being Progressive.
The Info.txt file created by, I think, Dvd2AVI when Frameserving tells me Interlaced video stream !
So I've changed the setting in Dvd2dvdr and ... it worked !!!

So, is there a good alternative to Bitrate Viewer for analysing
Progressive Frames, Linear Quantizer scale, Zigzag Scanning Order and Upper Filed to be set in Dvd2dvdr ?

    Then

I've tried other Dvds and the problem still occurs from time to time.
I've been able to see exactly where the process stops :

Still with this "Dvd Author / Multiplex" box.
So, the M2v stream file, the audio Stream(s) file(s) the Subpicture(s) file(s) and the Celltime.txt are filled
then... it ask again for a M2V file ... and stops.

    So

I've removed Dvd2dvdr 1.4.9 and installed 1.4.9a, we'll see if it change something.

    Bye

  5. So, latest version solved nothing.

I'm a bit tired of this and I think I'm gonna open a new topic to see if someone knows a way, a guide, to describe the latest steps in dvd2dvdr process :

    Copying Subtitlecolors
    Adding PreCommands
    Setting Audio to Preset
    Setting Subtitle to Preset
    Setting Provider-ID
    Updating Vts Sectors
