  1. I have just purchased a Pioneer 105 DVR-R/W Drive.

The Porblem I'm having is that any DVD Movies or DVD data discs that I've burnt, don't seem to play in my DVD-Rom Drive, which is a Toshiba SDM 1212 with firmware Vesion 1V14. I have also tried burning a movie and also some data to a DVD-RW, but my DVD rom drive does want to read it eiter. The dvd rom drive seems to play pre recorded DVDs as well as CD Roms fine, just not anything I've burnt! Needless to say all the burnt discs play fine in my Pioneer -r/w drive. I've used nero to burn the data and the movie, using the UDF 1.2 trick but to no avail.

Can some one tell me where I'm going wrong?

Is that my DVD rom Drive is too old to read -r/rw media?

    Many Thanks in advance

I've never used that specific drive, but it does indeed sound like it may not be able to read DVD media. How does your set top player do? Also what brand of disc are you using so far?

  3. I don't have a stand a lone DVD Player. I have a PS2 Tho' and that won't read any of my burnt discs either. Do you think it could be that my dvd rom too old to read my -r/w media?

The media I've used is Bulkpaq orange 4x Dvd-r and a Verbatim DVD-RW disk, that says 2x on the box,but only seem to burn at one speed.

    Has anyone got any advice?

  4. If you're just starting out, it could be a number of things with video content - like your authoring, use of IFOedit (or NOT using IFOedit...) etc. Data shouldn't give you any real problems though, so long as you're not breaking OS limitations. Can you read the discs back in the recorder ?

Plus the PS2 isn't the most compatible player of recordable DVD's - it can be a little picky about the media you feed it.

As far as movies go, what are you using to rip / process / burn with ?

  5. I would agree with flaystus, its most likley that your DVD rom drive simply isn't capable of reading recordable DVD media.

As to the PS2 issue, it may also depend on age. From what I have heard, the older PS2's are more picky about DVD recordable media than more recent versions. Even recent ones can be quite fussy though.

As far as your PS2 goes you'll find its fairly picky on what it will play. For it I'd stick with the better brands like Maxell, or BeAll.
