Well, I've been comfortable with my Sony 240 Digital8 camera; Using Pinnacle Studio 7 to upload and edit my movies.
Then I've converted the finished AVI to MPG (via TMPGenc) and burned a few VCD's (using NERO).
Now I bought a Pioneer DVR-A05, 10 DVD-R's.. came with 1 DVD-RW & 1 DVD-R media. I don't seem to have any DVD authoring software other than what came with the Pioneer. Sonic MyDVD. While the authoring seems pretty straightforward, after I burn to my DVD-RW (for trial & error purposes) I get an error in nVDVD & Windows Media Player. The error says something about a key exchange.
Now, looking through the web for something about this error, it seems that Region codes may have something to do with it. Well, I did accidently set my Region Code to 1 (US) on my DVD burner. I can't see how that's a bad thing, considering it is the region I want.
What I can't figure is why I'm getting the error. I can pop the burned DVD-RW in the drive and play it in the preview of MyDVD. So the video is there. I just can't seem to get it to play with any DVD player software I have. I even tried it in my home Sony DVD player on the off chance it may work (almost a given it wouldn't since no one on here has had any luck with it). Just said No Disc after a bit.
I have a 30 day trial of Studio 8 that includes some DVD authoring software. But I'd just like to get something to work before I go and possibly screw up my Studio 7 installation (they can be very picky!).
I have a licensed copy of Nero 5.5.x.x (not gonna check right now) and it has DVD-Video setting, but it's asking for file types I don't know how to produce (VOB? etc..). VCD's were easy, just tell it where the MPG is, and it does the rest. I'm trying TMPGenc for 30 days (for the DVD capability) and it makes a m2v and wav files... but that's not what NERO wants. I don't know how to get TMPGenc to output the files needed for NERO.
I've looked through some FAQ's on this site, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out before my trial runs out.
If someone is familiar with NERO & TMPGENC (even MyDVD) and can walk me through this, it would be greatly appreciated. For ease of communication (and walk through) I can be reached on MSN Messenger once it's established (via this thread) that you can help me.
Thank you all so much.

Here is the error I get in Windows Media Player (briefly shows "Playing Menu" in status area)
Well, I just tried it again, and for SOME reason, it plays on nVDVD2.0 (same one I tried earlier).
Well, I guess I can risk a DVD-R now.
I'd still like to know how to use my standard setup of EDIT: Studio 7, CONVERT: TMPGenc, BURN: NERO -
I really don't mean to spam, and if I'm posting this in the wrong forum, please let me know.
I tried the Pinnacle Studio 8 30 day trial, but it's crippled, it wont do any of what I want. So I dont have any other authoring tools to even see if it's MyDVD causing the problem, or something else.
Any help is greatly appreciated. -
Well, I used MyDVD to burn to a DVD-R with about 10 separate movies (clips).
Worked great! Course, it doesn't work right with nVDVD 2.0. (video plays at x3, audio plays at x1, but only plays first video).
Now I wanna know why the DVD-RW has copyright/key region protection issues. -
When you burn dvd-r's i dont think programs like nero or whatever add a security key to the disk so the players often refuse to play the disk in the even that it cannot find a key. It interprets that the disk is pirated because it cannot find a security key.
anyone know how to add a security key?Get Back To Me Through E-Mail if appropriate
