    I was just wondering this becuase to turn my vob file into into a vcd or divx file it takes forever about 3 hours or more. I am running it on a 800 mghz g3 processor with 256 of memory. A new ibook. Well if anyone can help I would be very grateful.

    Try encoding it into a SVCD!! On my iMac G4 700 Mhz 512 MB RAM a 100 minute movie takes 11 hours with mplayer

  3. (1) Quit all other running applications.
    (2) *Quit the Finder
    (3) *Quit the Dock
    (4) Set your display resolution as low as it will go.
    (5) Set your display colors to "Thousands" rather than millions.
    (6) Remove any disks from your drive/s.
    (7) #Turn your brightness as low as possible.
    (8) #Turn off Airport.
    (9) #Set power saving settings to "Best Performance".

    For the absolute fastest means of encoding, reboot your computer into darwin and work from there. But that's a whole other can o' worms there.
