hi,
i have looked thru the guides and cant seem to find a straight forward approach to this problem.
i want to strip/remove the extras but still keep the menus.
the dvd shrink method of compressing the extras to 'still pictures' is no good because it still leaves them on the disc and wastes a few hundred MB of space which is overflowing. and id rather remove the extras completely and not have to compress the movie (as much).
Also i encounter another typical scenario - after removing extras the main title still exceeds 4.37G.
so i guess my process involves; ripping the DVD - removing the extras but keeping the menus - compressing the main title - burning the image/dvd
i know that if i didnt want the menus it would be a very straightforward procedure using DVDShrink, but however i need the menus so it becomes a bit more tedious.
i have read a few guides which use IFOEdit and thought that there might be an easier solution.
the type of DVD in question is a Music DVD; I want to keep the menus because they have a 'song selection' or 'song list' option at the start which makes it easier to browse the DVD rather then skip thru chapters.
I have read thru most of the guides collecting bits and pieces from here and there and still cant put it all together, so if someone had a nice simple way of doing it then it would be greatly appreciated.
regards

Hey Bubs I am having the same problem as you, but i have tried a few things. The easiest way for me to backup a dvd keep all the menus and remove the extras is whit Instant Copy, but you need the hidden settings editor here is a good site
http://www.mrbass.org and click on the instant copy link.
I am still trying to find just the easiest way to backup a dvd keep all the menus and remove any extras I dont want.
I have made several with Instant Copy and they work fine but I would still like something better, Mr Bass suggests not removing video title sets but I did it and the dvd played fine on my panasonic s35.
Hopefully this will help you, and if anyone knows a easier way to keep all menus and remove extras please let me know
thanks
PUMA
