My sister's computer (she paid for it) is fairly new with DVD-ROM, CD-RW, 2.2GHz, Firewire and all the USB 2.0s you'll ever need. So, we converted a video to MPG and we were all siked to burn the vcd, except it won't allow vcd burning. The program that came with the computer as Roxio and it was the basic version, so we couldn't burn any vcds. I install the NTI CD-Maker thing (cant remmber the name) which we own (or I own) and it still will not allow vcd burning. In fact, it wouldn't burn anything. All it would allow to do is make CD Images that were not valid using Roxio to burn them. Just to note, Roxio you could burn Audio CDs too, but besides that and Data Cds, that was it.
I've come to the forum to figure out what I could do to get rid of whatever option/feature is on the computer that wont allow me to burn with any other computer, which I am not aware of.
Thanx,
AgentMojo

You and "Sis" have a little reading to do.
But in a nutshell, VCDEasy version 1.1.5 are freeware and is a good way to go with making VCDs. Version 1.1.6 is commercial ware, but still is a good way to go. But you really need to read the Beginner's Guides at left in the Guides section. You should end up converting, authoring and burning if you do it right. Keep us posted!
Hello. -
the basic version of easy cd creator doesnt come with the vcd burning software. the one the comes with the platinum version is awful. download VCDEasy, it is freeware, it is easy to use, and its a great program. actually, the newest version is NOT freeware, but i dont like the newer versions anyway. you can probably find one of the free ware versions on google or something. i use 1.1.3 and its great.

I do not think any of you understood the point of my question. I know how to properly convert everything, that is not my problem. I have been doing this on the family computer for more year and a half.
I think it is either a setting on the computer or maybe none of the cd burning programs will recognize the cd burner. It is a LITE-ON CD Burner, and I think its 48x. I think that maybe that the LITE-ON cd burner may be too generic, and will not be recognized by cd burning programs, other than the roxio basic that came with the computer. (The burner came with the computer.)
I also may think that the problem is a setting in which some Administrator setting will not allow any other programs to recognize the cd burner. If anybody knows of such a problem, or has had a familiar problem with Windows XP, post please!!!!
Just to reiterate, this is on an Windows XP Home computer. I know that VCD Easy can work with it, but it is not. As I said in an earlier post, all it will do is make CD Images (some programs VCD Images) that will not even be compatable with Roxio basic, the one program that does work. I have tried: NTI CD-Maker (still cant remember what it is fully called), VCD Easy, VCDImagerGUI and then with Fireburner, and all sorts of programs trying to make a VCD Image to use with Roxio, which will not work.
Please Help Me Find An Answer!,

o heh...sorry
at least for nero, there are unique registration codes for each brand....
i.e. if you use a registration key for HP, then nero will only recognize HP drives...no other brands...unless you get another registration key that will recognize Lite-Ons -
I use XP with a Lite-on CD burner and the bundled Roxio burning software. When I started using other burning software (VCDEasy, Nero, etc.) I had to download and install the various ASPI drivers) Nero, Adaptec, Force) from the Tools section of DVDRHELP.
After that all my burning software recognized my drive.
