  1. my new dvd player plays vcd..yeah, however everything I get is svcd. So i try the headertrick...problems, using tmpgenc what happens is that only about 60% of the svcd gets done, the operation just stops and says complete at 60%, play the file and sure enough it's missing about 200 meg and about 15 mins of the flick. Looked at vcdeasy, apparently you can do it with this but not sure how, also apparently you can do it with dvd2vcd (think thats the name) but not sure how also.... a walkthrough or any tips would be helpful.
Also I have tried to just reconvert the mpeg off of the cd-r , using vcdeasy, it goes through it all but at the end a message saying fread error () is a directory (something like that)... any help or walkthroughs would be appreciated because I really dont want to convert the svcd to vcd and lose the quality.. thanks guys

my dvd player will not play svcd either. Here is how my player will play them though, so give it a try.

i burn the mpg file as vcd (non standard) even if its a svcd. This is all that my player needs to trick it into playing a svcd.

  3. wow, so do you just burn it with nero? thanks for the info, greatly appreciated, hope it works

  4. My player, a Panasonic CP67, doesn't play SVCDs either. There was another post that said to open TMPGEnc, start mpeg tools from the file pull-down, go to the multiplex tab & open the mpeg2. I change the type to "MPEG-1 Video CD" & multiplex the file. It comes up with xxxxxS Packets causing buffer underrun, but after using VCD Easy to burn it as a VCD, it plays fine. I don't have to set it to VCD (non-standard) to get it to play, either. It could be different with your player, though.

  5. that was the message I was also getting xxxx's packet causing buffer underrun, so how do you burn it exactly in vcdeasy? thanks for all the valuable help

  6. When you get the buffer underrun error in TMPGEnc, just ignore it & click ok.
Start VCD Easy, set it for VCD 2.0 & add the file. It'll scan the file & say that it's not compliant with the VCD standard & ask if you want to add it anyways. Click yes, add your chapter points, & burn the VCD.

  7. I have the problem with the header trick as well where it does not finish the whole file. I have not figured out how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

  8. Sorry, I don't know why it wouldn't finish the file. Does it do this on more than 1 File?

  9. Yes there are a bunch of movies that i have tried to do the header trick on that it just finishes early

  10. Why not just get a player that plays svcd's? all the time you save by not screwing around changing headers will more than pay for a $50 DVD player...
